Description
This historic architectural feature located in northern New Jersey is known as the Amtrak Dock Vertical Lift. It is a through-truss lift bridge built by the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1935, spanning the Passaic River between Newark and Harrison. Today it services AMTRAK, NJ Transit, and PATH. The last time the bridge was lifted for river traffic was 2004. (Wikipedia). Also note that this photograph is now a few decades old. The size and style of the cars certainly takes us back in time.

Excellent vintage image. The cars are fantastic, a great color contrast to the bridge structure. v/f
